The Quadra webcam driver, downloaded from the Dell driver page seems to install ok, but still no trace of it or the webcam anywhere.ĭell Webcam Central responds invariably 'No supported webcam found', as well as the 'Camera' app of Win8. Btw, my latest BIOS version is A19, of 07sep12. However, nothing works still, even after numerous reinstalls, flashes, and reboots. This discussion seems the most advanced so far. Nothing anywhere to be found (Device Mngr, Sys Info, etc).Ĭhecked and tried all I could find on Dell threads and fora. And after a few days of reading the fora in search for an explanation and trying out a few suggested solutions (reinstall previous versions of Skype), lost even the trace of the existence of any webcam. Migrated from Win7 home to Win8 Pro, and everything was ok for months.Īfter an update from Skype, lost the webcam on Skype only.

I went to the Dell download software site which allows you to download the software that came with your computer from the factory and when I try to download both versions of the Dell Webcam Software neither one will download despite it telling me that I have at least two download attempts available. While I know Logitech and other venders Have webcams that are ready for Windows 8 but I don't want to have spend the money unless I have to. Trying to use the Windows 8 Camera application, Skype or anything that has the capability to use the webcam produces a "There is a problem with the camera" or the webcam preview screen will also remain black. I got my Windows 8 download and while visiting the support site I noticed that on the date that Windows 8 was officially released Ell put up drivers for the sound, video, chipset, networking devices, and so forth but Windows 8 does not seem to want to play nice with the integrated Webcam.
